Welcome to LexTech Lab
This guide takes you from the welcome email in your inbox to running your first Mauritian legal research query inside Claude — and then shows you what else Claude can do for your practice.
You do not need any technical background. If you can use Outlook and a web browser, you can finish this guide.
What you've got and why
LexTech Lab is a legal research service built for lawyers practising in Mauritius. It gives you searchable access to roughly 133,807 documents — Mauritian legislation, regulations, Supreme Court judgments, Privy Council appeals, Intermediate Court, Industrial Court, District Court and Master's Court decisions — through a single research interface.
LexTech Lab is not a separate website you log into. It is a research engine that plugs directly into Claude, the AI assistant from Anthropic. You ask Claude a question in plain English or French; Claude calls LexTech Lab in the background; you get an answer with the underlying sources cited. You stay in one tool — Claude — for research, drafting, summarising and analysis.
The setup takes about ten minutes. By the end of this guide you will have Claude installed, LexTech Lab connected, and your first research query answered.
Note on pricing. LexTech Lab itself is Rs 5,000 per month or Rs 50,000 per year, with a 7-day free trial. Claude is billed separately by Anthropic — see Set up Claude. Beta access is application-based; if you are reading this, you are already in.
